My life started in Delaware County in Sharon Hill, Pa. There I attended Darby Township, High School. I am the youngest girl in a family of eight, made up of 5 girls and 3 boys. While in high school I watched two of my older sisters follow the call and become nurses. Due to their influence, I wanted to become a nurse also, I’ve always wanted to help other people. I started my career path as a Nursing Assistant and took nursing classes at Widener University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
My roots to Parkside go back nearly thirty years, as I developed a relationship with my now-husband Michael Burch, who grew up in Parkside. Michael and I were married in Christ Community Baptist Church by Pastor White. When we wanted to get married, I wanted to do it in a church, in a place that mattered to both of us by someone special. I have been living in the area for the past 15 years in the home that my husband grew up in.
Today I work as an operating room nurse at Wills Eye Hospital. Here we work with patients from all over the tri-state area. Through my career choice, I have traveled to various impoverished countries as part of a surgical mission team performing eye surgeries on needy children. Helping to bring the gift of sight to a child is something I live for. I am also the bookkeeper and Medical correspondent for our neighborhood newspaper The Parkside Journal. Our Community is full of history and has wonderful attractions. Though there are some parts of the community in need of attention, I enjoy living here.
